ELMAN PROJECT 2020, Singapore, Singapore

Cross Cultural Urban Media Exchange, Singapore - Germany

ELMAN University Project is an international urban media art exchange between the Elbphilharmonie (Elphi) media wall façade in Hamburg and the Media Art Nexus (MAN), media display at the Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU). Students from the Department of Art & Design at the University of Applied Sciences, Campus Hamburg, and School of Art, Design and Media at NTU Singapore collaborated to create large scale artwork for two unique urban media platforms.

The online website archive highlights all the projects’ data regarding genre development, methodological variations, and concept study behind the artworks. The new media artwork needed to complement the site, the architecture and the transient nature of viewing the works. The themes addressed Music in 2018 and Silk Road in 2019. With virtual guest lecturers from Germany and Singapore, learning took place across disciplines, borders, and in public- at the very sites where the media will play. The collaboration brought forward different styles of teaching and modes of communication that are not presential.
